Facebook for iOS (pictures)

by Jason Parker

The new version of the app is incredibly fast, and will make Facebook users much happier to use the app to get the latest friend photos and updates.

Cleaner photo interface
Photos now show a much cleaner-looking caption, along with elegant thumbs up, comment, and tags buttons.
When viewing photos on the iPad, you won't have the horizontal navigation strip at the bottom anymore, but a quick vertical drag gets you back to the folder.
Swipe to close a photo
Instead of closing the photo to go back, you can now swipe up or down to continue to browse a folder.
The Timeline everywhere
You'll now be able to browse Timelines just like you do on the Web site.
Don't slide, just tap to refresh
A new banner across the top shows you how many new stories you have; you can simply tap to update.
A simple update for a world of difference
The new update is not a laundry list of new features, but the speed increase and UI tweaks make it into a must have.
Chat Heads make chatting convenient
A new feature in version 6.0 of the app adds Chat Heads, small friend icons that give you easy access to conversations while you browse other parts of Facebook.
